We use Google Chat to communicate any announcements to the class.
In there, you might find messages from us about who's turn it is for 1-2-1, PPD topic and any important updates.
It is also a way for you to talk to your tutors or your peers.
It is important for you to stay professional and respectful when you use the chat to talk to your tutors and peers.
Make sure you do not spam the chat with links, messages, emojis or gifs.
When you are letting us know that you will be late, you should message your tutor directly.

Emails
Emails are another way you can contact us.
All of the staff emails begin with the first letter of their name followed by their surname and end with @burnley.ac.uk
For example: Julia Skorek -- jskorek@burnley.ac.uk
You will be using an email to report your absence for the day or for a period of time.
You need to include your parent/guardian in the email.
Otherwise the report of absence is not valid. If you have a doctor appointment, you need to provide a screenshot or a picture of a booking, letter, reminder about your appointment. Then it can be authorised absence and won't impact your attendance.
How to write an email:
Write a subject line – keep it short and clear (e.g. Blender Question or Request for Feedback).
Start with a greeting – e.g. Hello [Name] or Dear [Name].
Introduce your reason – state why you are writing in the first line.
Give details politely – explain your question, request, or information. Keep sentences clear and to the point.
End politely – e.g. Thank you for your time or I look forward to your reply.
Sign off – e.g. Kind regards, [Your Name].
Check before sending – read your email again for spelling, grammar, and tone.
You can find link to your email using the student portal. The browser should open it automatically.
I want you to email me about the last game you played, the last film you've watched or what you've done over the summer.
Search Etiquette & Safeguarding
Every student has access to safeguarding support.
You can be referred to see someone by your tutor or you can go see them yourself and drop in.
They will help you with any issue you might have that you do not feel comfortable sharing with your tutor or parents but remember, if it impacts your well being and it is serious, they will contact the police or any other establishment that they will deem necessary.
Searching... Googling.... Browsing
